Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Your Marketing Specialist collects when you use this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to get it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.

Who we are

Your Marketing Specialist Pty Ltd, ABN 26 607 818 682, based in Bororen, Central Queensland, working with businesses across Australia. We are the organisation responsible for the information described here.

We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we apply them whether or not our turnover puts us over the threshold that makes them compulsory.

What the enquiry form collects

The form on our contact page asks for three things:

  • Your name. So we know who we are replying to.
  • Your email address. So we can reply. It is the only way we can answer you.
  • Your message. Whatever you choose to tell us.

The training enquiry form asks for one extra thing: which course you are interested in. That is the full list. We do not ask for a phone number, a postal address, a company size, or a budget field. If you put any of that in your message, that is your choice, and it is then held on the same terms as the rest of your message.

What we do with it

When you submit the form, the contents are emailed to Tim and Tanya. That email is the only place it goes. We use it to reply to you, to quote work, and to keep track of a conversation already in progress.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or pass it to a third party for their own marketing. We do not add you to a mailing list because you sent an enquiry. If we ever run a mailing list, you will have to ask to be on it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are deleted after 24 months. If you become a client, we keep the records we need to run the engagement and to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations, which is generally seven years from the end of the financial year the work fell in.

You do not have to wait for either of those. Ask us and we will delete it sooner. See Getting your information deleted below.

The services this site uses

Three third parties are involved in running this website. Each one is named here with what it actually does.

Google Analytics

We run Google Analytics 4, property G-938T7DYGTD, to see which pages people read and how they found us. It sets cookies in your browser and collects things like your approximate location, your device and browser, the pages you visit, and the site or search that sent you.

It does not tell us who you are. We use it to decide what to write and what to fix, not to identify individuals. You can opt out for every site you visit using Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.

Google reCAPTCHA

Our forms are protected by reCAPTCHA v3, which decides whether a submission came from a person or a bot. It runs in the background, so you will not be asked to click traffic lights, but it does collect information about your device and your behaviour on the page and sends it to Google. Google's privacy policy and terms of service apply to that. Without it the forms would be unusable inside a week.

Google Workspace

Form submissions are delivered to our inboxes using Google's Gmail service, and they live there. They are not written to a database on this website.

All three are operated by Google, which means your information may be stored or processed on servers outside Australia. By sending us an enquiry you accept that. If that is a problem for your business, tell us in your message and we will work out another way.

Cookies

This site sets cookies for two reasons: Google Analytics, as described above, and reCAPTCHA. There is no advertising pixel and no retargeting on this website.

Your browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here, but reCAPTCHA may stop the enquiry form from submitting.

Getting your information deleted

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request through the enquiry form and write “privacy request” in the message so we spot it quickly. We do not publish a phone number or a direct email address, so the form is the way in.

We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. If we cannot do what you asked, we will tell you why in writing.

If you are not happy with how we handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can fix it.

Security, honestly stated

Your enquiry travels to us over an encrypted connection and sits in an email account protected by multi-factor authentication. Access is limited to Tim and Tanya. That is a reasonable standard for a business of our size.

No system is perfect, and we are not going to claim otherwise. If information you gave us were ever exposed in a way likely to cause you serious harm, we would tell you and notify the Information Commissioner, as the notifiable data breaches scheme requires.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we handle it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. The version published here is the one that applies.
